Why I’m Running for Library Trustee
This fall, I’m running for a seat on the Board of Trustees for the Indian Prairie Public Library because I care deeply about my library and the role it plays in my community.
My love of libraries started at a young age. My mom was a librarian, so I’ve seen firsthand that a library is much more than a place to check out books. I still remember going to Take Your Child to Work Day and helping her with all of her tasks. It made an impact, and I started working at my local library when I was just 14. (I had to get a work permit to start at such a young age!) I worked there for 6 years, in a variety of roles, and wanted to return to a library in a new capacity one day.
Libraries are community connectors. They’re where kids discover a love of learning, where families find interesting programs, and where people can access knowledge on any subject in the world.
I’m running for an IPPL trustee position because I want to be more than a champion for its resources and programs. I want to advocate for and protect the library as an important public resource. I want to make sure it remains strong for the families and residents who rely on it. And, I want to help make sure its services continue to meet our community needs. Of course, I have a deep appreciation for reading, but I see the library as much more than a house of books. I want to help advance IPPL’s development in the future, too.
The election is in April 2027 – stay tuned for updates. Thank you for supporting me as I run for a trustee position!
